A Crew That Works in Whistler Every Week
Whistler is hard on floors: ski boots and road grit half the year, humidity that swings from alpine-dry to spring-melt damp, radiant heat under much of the housing stock, and rental turnover most floors never see. We’ve installed and refinished floors up and down the corridor for over 15 years, so we specify for those conditions — proper acclimation, engineered products where solid wood would move, and finishes that survive a rental season.

We check every detail with you and leave you with care advice matched to a Whistler winter — humidity, boots and all.

WHISTLER QUESTIONS
Whistler Flooring FAQ
For main living areas, engineered hardwood — it handles Whistler’s humidity swings and radiant heat while keeping real wood underfoot and at resale. For entries, basements and rental units, waterproof SPC vinyl plank is the practical winner. Most Whistler homes end up with a deliberate mix.
Yes, when the product and install respect the climate: engineered construction (or carefully acclimated solid wood), proper expansion detailing, humidity kept in a sane range, and radiant temperatures capped to spec. Hardwood fails in Whistler when it’s installed like it’s somewhere else.
Usually, yes. A sand-and-refinish or a between-seasons recoat can be scheduled in the shoulder season and keeps a floor in service far longer. If boards are gouged or water-damaged, targeted repairs plus refinishing still typically beats a new floor.
A typical condo or townhome runs two to five days once material is acclimated on site — plan for the acclimation window (usually 48–72 hours) on top. We’re honest about scheduling: winter access, strata elevator rules and our own availability are real constraints, and we’d rather tell you the true date than the nice one.
Both. We stock and supply engineered hardwood, laminate and vinyl chosen for Sea to Sky conditions, and we install what we sell — one point of accountability for the material and the workmanship.

Harrison did a great job refinishing our badly damaged fir flooring in Pemberton. Like new again — thank you!
The team at Tantalus Floors did an incredible job installing a new hardwood floor throughout my house. Very pleased and would definitely recommend.
My floors were in such bad condition — the amazing job Harrison did literally made them look new. So reassuring to find a company with this dedication to professionalism and results.
Infinite patience while we tweaked for two years — then all business. On time. On budget. No surprises. We have already recommended Tantalus multiple times, and this is the first Google review I have ever written.
